IC nursing program receives CCNE accreditation

6.16.2021

The Illinois College nursing program recently received its CCNE accreditation.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Illinois College was recently accredited by , an independent commission ensuring the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.

Illinois College Director of Nursing Angela Pierson said the accreditation is an indicator of the strength and quality of IC鈥檚 growing nursing program.

鈥淗olding CCNE accreditation demonstrates our ability to educate 缅北禁地 using nationally recommended curricular components that create a framework based on the needs of today's diverse patient population,鈥 she said.

Illinois College announced the addition of a four-year clinical nursing degree program in April 2020. The program has quickly grown to enroll more than 100 nursing majors and pre-nursing 缅北禁地, and is expected to continue. Illinois College also offers a fully-online RN to BSN program that takes about 12 months to complete. The College will launch an online Master of Science in Nursing next year.

The BSN program at Illinois College met all four accreditation standards set forth by CCNE. Their governing board determined that the program had no compliance concerns with respect to the key elements being evaluated. CCNE serves higher education institutions and healthcare organizations throughout the United States.

According to Pierson, the accreditation is a standard sought by prospective 缅北禁地 and recognized by leaders in health care who will be their future employers. The designation is also a sign to the public that the program meets the expectations of the field. The accreditation will last for five years, extending to June 30, 2026.
